MMTS, Hyderabad
MMTS or Multi Modal Transport System was introduced in Hyderabad on August 9th 2003. At its inception, there were no takers for this alternative to the chaotic traffic of Hyderabad. However, from Jan this year, the number of trains plying on various routes was increased to cater to the peak hours. Travelling from Hitec City to Begumpet at 6 ‘O clock in the evening takes only 10 minutes by MMTS as compared to an hour by road. It has come as a relief to most commuters from far away places to Hitec City. Even the companies have started recognizing the importance of this transport system and have introduced shuttle services to and from the station during peak hours.
I know of many people who have been using MMTS quite often despite having their own transport. The benefit of this approach is two-fold. One, the person reaches his destination in absolutely no time at all, and two, Hyderabad sees one vehicle less on its roads which definitely helps in alleviating the traffic chaos.
Guess the govt got it right this time!!!

Please start a direct train from Hitech City to Bolaram.
Yes, instead of changing train at secunderabad stn, Please start a train from Bolaram to Hitech City (To & Fro)
I am a daily commuter in MMTS train from James Street to Lingampally. For past many many days, traveling in the ladies compartment in the train which reaches Secunderabad at 6.15 PM, has become horrible because of the ‘Gentle Men’ getting into the compartment
Yesterday, it was literally impossible to stand in the train, and most of the seats had already been occupied by Men, they were not ready to give the seats even if we shouted at them. Because of these, men most of the times it is impossible to get in and get down from the train. I thought, I should do something to eliminate this because, ladies here are silent and most of the times I felt like I lose my life in the crowd.
I request you please give extra care for my following suggestions as early as possible or if you can not do, please forward this mail to the authorized person.
1) Keep 1 or 2 policemen in each ladies compartment and make sure that no men is getting into ladies compartment.
2) Make the ticket checking a regular habit.
3) Make sure that the Men, getting into PHC side is really ‘PHC’.And clearly mention that, if the person is not PHC, the compartment is meant for ladies.
4) The persons who are caught for traveling in Ladies compartment or without ticket have not been punished most of the time. I have noticed many times that, even if TTR finds Man in Ladies compartment, they simply ask them to move into another compartment. And from the next station, the moved out person comes back, because his wife/ Lover is sitting here. Please take penalty from the person who violates law.
5)Please make sure that Families are traveling in General compartment.
Since this gentle men uses their hands and fights inside the compartment, it is really scary, and it is questioning the security of each lady traveling in the Falkanuma- Lingapally MMTS.
Looking forward to see the changes in MMTS.
….wohhhh wait a minute… there are men and womens separate train compartments in india…. ??? is this enshrined in law?? wow… that’s not going to do the economy any good… Where I live separate sex compartments applies to public conveniences and there are pubs around here which have unisex toilets too…
What’s the objective of men and womens compartments? Forgive my ignorance but obviously if this is the case there would be a benefit of this?
mick, seperate ladies compartment its just a matter of public convenience. Especially when there are 100,000 commuters taking to these trains everyday; the usually more aggressive men make it difficult for women. – so, its just a matter of public convenience and it is NOT the case of discriminating etc…
Hi,
Please increase the number of trains during peak hours, escpecially in nights i.e after 21:10 , as most offices are until 21:30.
Thanks
